Mariela Twiggs
MS, RHIA, CHP, FAHIMA, President of AHIOS
As president of AHIOS, Mariela Twiggs strives to lead the organization’s efforts to strengthen, enhance and raise awareness of the health information management outsourcing industry while establishing standards of excellence for the industry to follow through legislative, regulatory and legal processes.
Ms. Twiggs is currently the CEO of MTT Enterprises, LLC, which provides release of information (ROI), temporary and consulting services. She also leads VELFILE, LLC, a company that provides document management solutions, e-forms and resells an ONC-ATCB certified electronic health record. During her career, Ms. Twiggs has worked as a director of medical records in various hospitals and has also managed an ROI outsourcing business. Ms. Twiggs is a Registered Health Information Administrator, certified in healthcare privacy, Fellow of AHIMA, certified document imaging architect and holds a bachelor’s degree in medical record administration and a master’s degree in healthcare administration. She has also served as past president and treasurer of the Louisiana and Greater New Orleans Health Information Management Associations (HIMA) and has received LHIMA’s Distinguished Member and Career Achievement Awards.
Richard C. Logan
MBA, RHIA, Executive Director of AHIOS
As the association’s executive director, Richard (Dick) Logan is the principal spokesperson of AHIOS, tasked with discussing the ever-evolving challenges that the healthcare outsourcing industry faces, from intensified government regulations relating to the release of information process, to the complex state of hybrid paper/electronic health records. He is also responsible for organizing regular membership meetings, including the annual fall meeting held during the annual AHIMA Convention.
A 40-year industry veteran and co-founder of AHIOS, Mr. Logan, is the former founder, president and CEO of Medical Record Associates, Inc., a company he founded in 1986 to provide health information consulting and management services, including ROI processing. Previously, he was the former director of medical records at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He also taught in the Health Information Administration program at Northeastern University in Boston for 25 years.
Dave Jackson
Vice President
Dave Jackson is vice president of AHIOS and is a member of its executive committee. Mr. Jackson is also president of Midwest Medical Record Association, Inc., a company that provides comprehensive information management services for HIM departments in ROI, recovery audit contractor (RAC) tracking and document imaging.
William Bailey
Secretary
William (Bill) L. Bailey serves as secretary of AHIOS and is president and CEO of BACTES, a company that provides organizations with customized services in ROI, digital medical record archiving and RAC support. Bailey’s 40 year career encompasses a legacy of successful growth in the Information Management industry, with high-level executive positions in sales, operations, management and consulting. In 1991, William founded BACTES, which now employs over 200 people in 19 states and 35 major metropolitan areas.
Bonnie Coffey
Past President
Past president of AHIOS, Bonnie J. Coffey has over twenty years experience in the health information management field. Ms. Coffey started CM Information Specialists (formerly CopyMed Incorporated) in 1986 and currently serves as president and CEO. CM Information Specialists provides outsourcing services in release of medical information and temporary help and consulting to health information management departments. Another company, Attain Document Services, also started by Ms. Coffey, provides assistance in getting records of any type, digitizing and transmitting and storing records for its growing customer base.
Ms. Coffey has been instrumental in the creation of the Certified Release of Information Specialist designation, earned by individuals demonstrating their competence in the release and security of protected health information. Ms. Coffey has been active in the Minnesota Health Information Management Association and currently serves on the Legal Resources Committee and Vendor Alliance Committee. Ms. Coffey holds a BS degree in education from Moorhead State University. With this focus in education, Ms. Coffey provides learning opportunities for organizations interested in understanding the complexities of medical information. Ms. Coffey is a member of the American and Minnesota Health Information Management Association.
